New Published Research - Advantages of Precision Metagenomics in UTI Infection Diagnosis

Our Advanta Genetics scientists are excited to introduce their recent research on UTI infections. This newly published article "Advantage of precision metagenomics for urinary tract infection diagnostics" was peer reviewed by scientists from both the California and Minnesota Departments of Health as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In this work, UTI samples were tested and comparatively analyzed with microbial culture, PCR, and precision metagenomics techniques. Then organisms were phenotypically classified for pathogenicity using the Illumina Explify® bioinformatics platform. Results provided evidence that precision metagenomics offers a diagnostic advantage in clinically suspected UTI cases and may be especially useful in the effective treatment of complicated or recurrent UTI disease.
