Preferred Specimen Fresh Stool in Fecal Transport Vial (Cary Blair with Indicator). Refrigerate. Note: No More Than Two Bacteriology Specimens are Recommended. Two Specimens should be Submitted in Separate Days to Increase the Probability of Recovering Pathogens. Two Separate Specimens Will Pick Up 99% of Bacterial Pathogens. If Vibrio or Yersinia is Suspected, Codes Specific for Those Tests should be Ordered.
